Bishop Mule Days seeks Executive Director

Bishop Mule Days Celebration is looking for a highly energetic,

motivated person to join our team as Executive Director

Background:

Every Memorial Day weekend since 1969, the town of Bishop, nestled on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains, comes alive with the annual presentation of Mule Days. The outfitters and packers of the region wanted an event to start off the packing season and the businessmen wanted to draw vacationers to the Owens Valley. What began as an informal gathering and a test of skills, has grown into a fun filled, world class event.  Come join the team that puts on this annual event.

Summary and Duties:

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and the Mule Days President.  The Executive Director supervises all staff and is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Mule Days office and coordinating and planning the annual Mule Days event at the direction of the Executive Board.  The duties of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain the Mule Days office by organizing and monitoring office duties and procedures
• Prepare and maintain all necessary financial information, including but not limited to the annual budget, monthly accountings and other financial reports
• Prepare all contracts, memorandums, proposals and correspondence
• Schedule appointments and meetings for Executive Board members and event chairpersons
• Supervise all office staff and maintain staff working schedule and prepare all payroll
• Assist the Executive Board and event chairpersons as needed
• Maintain all databases and assure computer related programs and databases are current and up to date

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent or a High School diploma with a minimum of two years administrative and supervisory experience
• Ability to multitask and meet challenging deadlines
• Highly organized and flexible
• Problem analysis and assessment
• Self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
• Knowledge of accounting, data and administrative management practices and procedures
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of office software packages and  QuickBooks
• Knowledge of human resources management practices and procedures
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
